Become a Member of Spirit of the Earth Church Inc.


Membership is open to everyone and anyone who shares Spirit of the Earth Church Inc.’s statement of purpose and beliefs. Please read the following information on becoming a member.

Membership Categories:

Memberships are divided into three categories: Individual, Family, and Distant member. These Memberships are defined as follows:

Individual: A single individual, who wishes to become a member of Spirit of the Earth Church, and wishes to have Membership Privileges (see below). Membership dues are required.

Family: Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. recognizes that Families come in many forms; therefore, our Family Membership will include single parents, couples, same sex partners, and polyamorous families that reside together in a single household. This also includes children.  Family Memberships are for Families who wish to become members of Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. and wish to have Membership Privileges outlined under Membership Privileges. Membership dues are required.

Distant: An individual or family that wishes to become a member of Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. that does not reside within the area. Distant memberships for those who wish to contribute to the Church and have Membership Privileges as outlined under Membership Privileges. Membership dues are required.


Membership Dues

The amount for annual dues for Individual and Distant Memberships shall be $120.00 each year.  The amount for annual dues for Family Memberships shall be $180.00 each year.
Members may pay dues on a monthly basis. For Individual and Distant Memberships the amount would be $10 per month. For Family Membership the amount would be $15 per month. The first months dues must be included with the completed membership form. Members, who pay monthly dues, have until the end of each month to pay their dues. Continued membership for Individual, Family, and Distant memberships is contingent upon being up-to-date on membership dues.
Once you become a Member you will have the option to contribute needed goods instead of monetary contributions per month.Contributions of goods must equal your monetary contribution to the Church.


Membership Privileges

Individual, Family, and Distant Members are given the following privileges:

A Membership discount of 25% will be given to Individual, Family, and Distant Members for any Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. event or special activity except under the following circumstances:

1. A person that has purchased supplies that are not provided by the Church specifically for a class, circle, Ritual, or event. The person who is teaching/performing that class, circle, ritual, or event may ask for a reasonable donation from the participants to cover the cost of supplies only.

2. A member participating in a trip with Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. Each member participating in a trip with Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. must pay fees associated with the trip; including but not limited to: cost, travel, dining, and/or lodging.

Member Voting: Individual or family members age of 18 years or older may exercise the right to vote at board meetings, annual meetings and any other Special Meetings throughout the year. Each member will have one vote, per topic, per meeting.  A member who wishes to vote must be present.

Member Privilege to call a Special Meeting: Any Individual or Family member over the age of 18 has the right to call a Special Meeting to speak concerns in front of the Board of Directors. Any Member exercising this right must give advanced notice of three weeks to the Executive Secretary. The Member calling the Special Meeting must be present at the meeting.

Distant Members: Distant Members have the same rights as Individual and Family Members listed under Membership Privileges, except those privileges in which a Member is required to be present. Those exceptions are: Member Voting and Member Privilege to call a Special Meeting. If a Distant Member wishes to travel at his, her or there own expense in order to exercise one of these privileges, they would at that time be allowed to participate in that privilege as outlined.


Where does money collected and raised by SOTEC go?

Money accumulated by Church Membership dues, donations or fundraiser's will be used for several purposes. First, the money will be used to offset the costs of circles, classes, events, Rituals, fundraiser's, trips and supplies. Any additional money will be put into the Spirit of the Earth Church Inc.’s savings account for future projects.  


A note about Membership Dues and disclosure of Financial Records

Membership dues will be reviewed at least once every year at the annual board meeting in January; if adjustments need to be made for the benefit of the Church it will be voted on at that time. Financial records from Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. will be made available to all members and the public anytime they wish to review them.


At Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. privacy is of our utmost concern; therefore Spirit of the Earth Church Inc. does not share or sell any personal information.
